Our beautiful boy Porter grew wings and departed in 2014; such a sad passing as he was only 9 years old. See you at the Bridge one day darling boy.

Porter won Opp Open in Show on Sun 6th Sept under Mrs Marilynn Morphett from Qld at the Tas GR Club Specialty Show. His critique:
Open Dog 1. Ch Golden Rosebays Drummer Boy (imp Blg)( Eng Sh Ch Goldenquest Ambassador/ Espressivo VD Beerse Hoeve
"An animal which oozes great quality. Beautiful to go over, not overdone in any way, painting a truly lovely picture. Lovely head and gentle expression. Correct bone Level topline. Well sprung ribs. A very pretty coat. Beautifully handled throughout. One of the contenders for the top award. Lost out a little with a little less drive in the hindquarters on the day."

Porter has returned from New Zealand and stamped his mark on the Tassie show scene by taking out BEST IN SHOW at the Tas Golden Retriever Club Specialty Champ Show on Sun 2nd November under UK breed specialist Mrs Beryl Liggins (Nunsbrook. This was his first show on Oz soil for 15 months. His critique:

"This quality boy took my eye on entering the ring and did not disappoint on examination, most lovely type with gorgeous head and expression. Excels in neck and shoulders with straight front, strong bone and good feet. Deep well ribbed body with level topline. Strong well developed quarters with well let down hocks. Very sound and stylish on the move with lots of ring presence. So very well balanced from all angles. Shown in lovely coat and hard condition."

Porter won the Res DCC and Best Open in Show on Sat 8th Sept under Henric Fryckstrand from Sweden at the Tas GRC Champ Show. Here is his critique: "Most attractive dog shown in excellent condition with an appealing outline. Gorgeous head and expression. Good neck, adequate front angulation. Excellent bone. Very good ribs and body substance. Strong topline. Excellent hind angulation. Moves with good extension but would prefer more drive in the rear. Shown in lovely coat. Expertly handled."

Porter completed his Australian Championship title in fine style by winning Best of Breed at the Hobart Royal Show on 24th Oct under International Gundog judge Mrs Elena Spector from Argentina. He was shortlisted to the final 4 for the Gundog group. Congratulations to his breeders in Belgium - Fam Braeckman-Brack.

Sat 23rd Sept sees Porter win another CC (25pts) with Best of Breed under Victorian judge Mr P Goodwin. He is now VERY close to his title.

Porter won Best Junior in Show at the Tas Golden Retriever Club Show on 26/1/2005 under Wayne Pearson from Victoria. His critique:
Puppy Dog Class
Golden Rose-Bay?s Drummerboy (Imp.Belg.)
Well balanced dog with correct proportions who presented better on the stack than on the move. Pleasant head that will continue to develop with age. Adequate pigment, good neck into shoulders and correct front assembly. Correct bone and feet and a level topline with hindquarters to compliment the forequarters. Well handled.

Porter won his first CC at only his 3rd show on Australian soil 15/1/2005. He also won Runner Up Best of Breed and Best Puppy Gundog. What a great start for him!!

I am so excited and extremely lucky to announce that this stunning youngster has now arrived in Tasmania, from Sydney quarantine. Many thanks to Janelle Dulke for taking so much time out to check on him for me and have him to stay until I could collect him. He has an impeccable temperament and is quite the 'class clown' with his mega-personality.

His impeccable bloodlines carry some of the most influential and famous goldens of our time. His sire Eng Sh Ch Goldenquest Ambassador won the Dog Challenge and went Best of Breed, then Best in Group 4 at Crufts this year 2004 and ended the year as Top Golden Retriever un the UK!!

His dam, Espressivo Van Der Beerse Hoeve is from the famous Dutch kennel of Mieke Gerritsen, and combines a glamorous mix of line-breeding to World Champion Dutch-, German-, VDH-, Luxembourg and Argentina Champion Standfast Angus.(1 time Junior world champion and 3 times World Champion)

I am indebited to his breeders, Brigitte, Camiel and Kathy Braeckman-Bracke in Belgium for allowing me to bring him to Australia.

Porter attended his first show in Luxembourg on the weekend of Sun 25th July; It was an All Retriever Championship Show (over 150 goldens present) and he won Best Baby Puppy in Show!!! What a star. His critique is below. Mrs. Verbeek from the Netherlands critique:
"Lovely baby full of quality, nice shaped head, nice angles in front and rear, beautiful topline, good bone and feet, moved well for age, lovely temperament."

The judge for best baby in show was Mrs. Rathenau from the Netherlands (a famous breeder of flatcoats).

Sat 31st July saw Porter attend the Belgium Club Open Show - 90 goldens present. Again he won Baby Puppy Dog - the judge was Mrs Heather Morris (Sandusky) and her critique:
"Head developing nicely, nice dark eye with good pigment, lovely reach of neck, deadlevel topline, well bent stifles, beautifully balanced outline, just coming into coat, excellent on the move, really lovely young dog, nicely handled and presented"

On Sun 15th Aug at The Belgium Club Show (where there was over 150 goldens exhibited) under breed specialist from the UK, Mrs Freda Garget of Garvin goldens, he was awarded 3rd out of 9 in the older Puppy dog class.

Her critique:
" Very much a baby, short coupled, good shoulder placement & hindangulation, moved true both ways, standing gave a very balanced picture, most pleasing head. "

At this show Porter's mother, Expressivo Van De Beerse Hoeve won Best Dam and Progeny in Show...the first time this award has ever been won by a bitch in Belgium. See the photo in the album of this super stunning bitch and her 'kids' including Porter and Lemon.

Check out more photos of him from 6 weeks of age by clicking on his Photo Album below. Including photos from all the above shows.

On the 3rd Oct 2004 Porter attended a huge all breeds show in Charleroi (in the french speaking part of Belgium) where he won Best Puppy of Breed and went on to win Runner up Best Puppy in Show!!

The future is very bright for this gorgeous boy. He has settled in at my place very well and is a delight to live with. Stay tuned for his progress in 2005.
